The professor really stretches out our project into 7+ check-ins throughout the semester. The pace is slow, which can be good or bad, but it loses a lot of the class' attention.

Professor Selby is so nice...but we don't need to learn SAS. It's a waste of time.

This is a class learning SAS. But you really won't learn that much SAS and learn how to do insights. The professor does the same thing every class. First you talk about a case in the most vague terms, and then talk about current news articles that are somewhat related to big data. Then the last 10 minutes of the 3 hour class you watch him do a SAS calculation while everyone frantically tries to catch up with what he is doing. Just watch tutorial videos online if you want to learn SAS, that would be about the same as this class.

Selby is a great guy, but this class is rough. I only took it to meet the biz analytics certificate. I preferred the course in R to this one in SAS. The class was only offered Monday/Thursday in the evenings which is brutal. If you're not doing the biz analytics cert then I'd seriously consider a more beneficial class.

"1) 3-hour class walking through cases and how business analytics is applied in current business environment is not exciting 2) limited tutoring for SAS 3) though if you and your team are devoted to the SAS group project, it could be rewarding"

This is a class in which if you put in the effort, you will reap the benefit. The professor isn't great; so don't expect to learn much from him. However, he does provide a lot of useful SAS materials that may help you learn the tool if you put in the effort. Good case studies in this class as well.

Very basics of SAS and business analytics covered in this course. The professor does not engage students much and all the content can easily be learned on your own.

The class sounds great on the syllabus, but the actual in-class experience is beyond disappointing.
