Spring 2018 · Randhawa, Ramandeep · 3 units
Course content is different from what was delivered in core and not covered (even remotely) by many of the other electives. The content is very useful, even if you are not going into Operations as a career function. Course is a mix of case reading and practical applications (in Excel). The professor is very good at delivering the content, which is relevant to today's business problems.

Every class has a specific subject and 1-2 takeaways at the end. Very to-the-point. Readings are carefully picked so that you don't spend too much time on them but get the most out of them. There are not many MBAs in the class if you care about your classmates. That may make the experience too easy because many of the students are medical students who don't even know Excel. A bit data heavy which is good. The class drives the thought process.

This is one of the best designed and best thought-out classes I've had in my entire academic career. The readings are carefully curated and do not take a lot of time to complete, but provide tremendous value and insight into the management and operations of a services firm. This is one of those classes where you WANT to do the reading because you know it will be interesting, engaging, and informative.

This should be a core class. It teaches many vital business theories and practical applications. The professor is quite interactive and innovative in his teaching style. Cases are short, succinct, and effective.

If you intend on working in the service industry (from retail to finance to education), you should consider this course. The professor is humorous, engaging, and clearly cares for us, the students.

The topic is queuing, wait times and optimum pricing- so if you're not interested in working in a service business than you won't enjoy this course. The course is very data heavy which is good if you want to get a better grasp on regression models and excel.

I like Raman, but the class is way way too simple. I feel like it's an undergrad 101 level class, where we touch on various subjects within service management. I don't think I really learned anything here.
