Class if fairly fast-paced but the assignments and out-of-class workload are very reasonable. All materials are directly applicable to anyone pursuing investment banking or other M&A-focused roles. Scott is the man.

Scott Abrams is incredible, and he is probably one of the best professors at Marshall but this course is just a rehash of the corporate finance course and I don't think I have learnt much from this course.

Have a good understanding of corp fin before joining. Scott is a great professor and makes the material easy to understand but he moves quickly. The material is also very connected to real world situations so it helps in more than actually evaluating companies

It was a lighter workload than I expected. Scott is hilarious, makes the course really fun. We study very interesting companies and learn the basics of valuing companies. Lots of DCF and Comps work.

I find scott's teaching style really fun and engaging and so I really enjoyed this course. The first quarter or so felt like a review of corporate finance and then we got into more nitty gritty type finance. Not coming from a finance background at all, I appreciated the new knowledge and loved the experience of being in a more advanced finance course.

Moderate workload. Strong applied technical work in class and for projects. Great for people new to financials as the professor makes the assignments 80% completed when he gives it out. Good refresher for finance backgrounds. Be prepared to participate in lectures and don't be afraid to ask questions or get the professor to repeat/review something.

Repeats a lot of the concepts from corporate finance while expanding upon valuation methods and case studies. Scott is helpful and wants students to succeed. Class involves lecture, group discussion, and in-class assignments that count for participation. Class is dynamic and enjoyable and most out-of-class assignments can be completed either liaising with or directly working with other students.

Medium level of difficulty if unfamiliar with finance concepts, manageable workload, great professor. Concepts that many MBAs should understand and can apply to any career.

Very similar to corporate finance, not too difficult if you go to lecture. Very engaging and useful content. Highly recommend for people going into finance.

There is some case reading/analysis that needs to be done on an individual and group level. But the more effort you put into it, the more you'll probably get out of it! Who is this class for? Anyone interested in breaking into finance or marketing (esp. if interested in entertainment), because these foundational concepts would probably be applicable to all those fields. Final Thoughts: Professor Abrams is a blast! His energy and enthusiasm is infectious, and he really cares about his students learning

It's a rigorous course. If you aren't interested in Finance I wouldn't take it. But then again, Scott does make the material fun and interesting. He's a good teacher. Who is this class for? Students that want to learn more about finance and have hopes to land financial analyst/associate roles. Final Thoughts: Required for SIF.

The course is comprehensive with an intense amount of group work. Professor Abrams seems incapable using an in-class example that is not an entertainment company or Tesla. Who is this class for? Anyone interested in anything finance related - any industry Final Thoughts: Overall satisfied with the class, I wish there was more diversity in class discussions beyond the entertainment industry.

This class is like building on corporate finance from term 1 & 2. It is challenging and fast paced but extremely useful. It's one of the classes that every MBA student should take because employers will expect you to value a company or know the basics of this material at some point.

Take this class if you are going into consulting. Super useful (and I wish I had taken it before my summer internship). Scott moves fast, but you can rewatch the videos. Definitely a lot to learn and takeaway
