Fall 2022 · Ahern, Kenneth · 3 units
Very theoretical, a lot of M&M propositions-type topics where the professor blends economics with organizational behavior and corporate finance. If you have a natural curiosity in these types of topics, you'll like his class, otherwise, it might be too academia-heavy. Professor is nice and always happy to entertain questions. Very old-school style of needing to write notes along with him (nothing posted online). Exams are difficult but fair if you do his practice problems.

If you've taken Econ in undergrad this will remind you of that. Assumptions, hypothetical states of the are discussed extensively, and tested in exams. I'm not complaining because I am quite receptive to his style of teaching, and even though theoretical, heavily research based, and perhaps not the most applicable class, that's what Econ classes are always like, it's a good brain exercise. All classes are taughted with him projecting his handwriting, and you copy his notes as he writes and talks.

It's very theoretical and the professor does a good job of introducing empirical data and well-known finance publications into the course material.
