So good!!! Should be considered in the next tier out from a core class. Amazing professor (one of the best at Marshall) who is exceptional at delivering very complex subject matter very understandably, without it feeling over-simplified. Take this.

Great professor and class, good to take for personal knowledge/even though not going into consulting/asset management

I will be referencing this class many, many years into the future in my career, and Prof. Hoburg is one of my favorite professors at Marshall. I recommend everyone take this class. Its not too "financy" but still provides a meaningful financial background. It focuses heavily on acquisition strategies and how firms have done deals in the past, as well as what kind of deal pitfalls are commonly seen. Highly, highly recommend!!

Professor Hoberg is actually one of the best and most polished professors at Marshall. At times I wish he was teaching another (more useful) subject aside from Mergers & Acquisitions. But damn does he teach the hell out of those Mergers & Acquisitions. Very well structured, polished slides, he add a ton of nerdy humor - what's not to like?

Structured class and very nice Professor, covering pretty much all the critical concepts related to M&A.

The way that Professor Hoberg teaches could be dry, but the quality of the class is definitely very high. One of the very few high-quality classes in Marshall. If you are interested in M&A, don't miss it! I suggest to take the Financial Analysis and Valuation class before taking M&A. M&A class is buit on that class and is not easy.

Great list of guestspeakers (strategic, PE, search funds, IB, private credit) that gives you a holistic view of the M&A world. Perhaps not as technical and lecture-focus as the other professor's M&A class, but you still need to read cases every week for assignment purposes.

The class material and cases are very interesting. The professor is very knowledgeable and happy to help students explore questions. I have found it particularly interesting to take the previous finance knowledge I had and stretch it to scenarios I haven't worked on in previous jobs. Would be very helpful to pick case teams using strategy of incorporating at least 1-2 people who have prior modeling experience. Professor's slides are very distracting with animations and I don't always find him engaging through certain parts of the material.

Hoberg is a gem. This is a really interesting class, and Hoberg does a great job taking what can be dense or complex subject matter and making it accessible. He provides plenty of opportunities for participation both in class and on the blackboard discussion board. Such a good experience, highly recommend Hoberg.

This class is a must for aspiring Investment Bankers. Professor Hoberg is great professor with exceptional depth of understanding of the relevant concepts and practical nuances. The course is really engaging both inside and outside the class. The dealchat forum on blackboard ensures the learning continues outside the class and draw upon exceptional insights from peers taking the class. The dry sense of humor and Professor's wit will ensure you enjoy the class thoroughly.

Professor Hoberg is very passionate about the course and it is clear he wants his students to learn and do well. A finance background is not necessary to do well in the class either. I enjoy attending class sessions and have learned a lot, which I can hopefully use as I begin a career in consulting.

Class is focused far more on strategy than anything math/modeling related. His lectures surrounding strategy are interesting and engaging, but he's not as good at explaining the quantative portions.
