Fall 2022 · Tellis, Gerard, J · 3 units
Tellis is an accomplished speaker and researcher. He keeps the content fairly simple but it is still helpful to spend more time going through and can be applied in a variety of industries. There are a number of mini assignments but they are not too hard and he drops the lowest couple. The midterm is a presentation. The final is short and the main semester project is analyzing and remaking an ad. One downside is this class does not really cover social media - it is more about advertising as a whole. Class was small and he facilities good discussion and includes good cases. He is also hilarious and very open to helping students.

The lectures are just a summary of the reading, so no real value add to come to class. The project was interesting but was poorly explained as the professor is unclear with directions often.

A lot of the information feels old and outdated. He doesn't keep up to date with the latest trends and just gives a high level outline of what has been done in the past. You don't learn how to create effective advertising.

Not the best class, but I think it is a must for marketers.

This class is just OLD. Many of the advertisement examples are over ten years old. Some of the cases are interesting but the discussion led by the professor is so slow and basic literally no critical thinking is involved. There were very few FT MBA students in the course. There is a lot of busy work for class and he covers many concepts. Tellis is nice as a person but it is not a worthwhile class.

Repeat of a lot of what we learned in core, teacher doesn't explain concepts well, either.
