Spring 2022 · Badame, Diane · 3 units
Badame has a TON of energy, she brings in really great guest speakers, and she brings a wealth of knowledge to the table. Some of the cases are a little outdated, but this class is a really great deep dive into strategic marketing frameworks. The group project is a big lift, but because you can split it between a group of 5-6 it makes it manageable.

This is a super easy class. It's a bit of work with lots of cases and readings but the Prof. Badame has a really good course structure. It's definitely worth taking at least one of her classes.

Badame is great and truly cares about the subject and her students. It is a lot of work but manageable.

A great class to get Badame's hot take on general marketing strategy. Amazing guest speakers. This is my first and last class with Badame, however. She is lovely and encourages participation and peer learning, but the coursework is just too much. Definitely recommend taking only one class of her's.

The content is great and dense, great speakers, useful frameworks, but the class is too fast.

Badame brings amazing guest speakers to class. I highly recommend this class for anyone pursuing marketing as a career function.
Fall 2019 · Badame, Diane · 3 units
Badame is a classic experience and her strongest quality is her ability to bring in amazing guest speakers. Actual course material in terms of content is so-so. Much of it feels repetitive. You can balance your workload pretty nicely though.

Great speakers, not too much work (one individual paper, one midterm, 2 reflection papers, one group project that reports twice)
Fall 2019 · Badame, Diane · 3 units
Badame gives somewhat frameworks. Her passion in marketing shows and she's able to bring in amazing guest speakers. Not the best marketing class but helpful to take if you're interested in marketing.

I really enjoyed the focus on current cases and interesting/relevant companies such as Uber, Snapchat and Trader Joe's. The lineup of guest speakers was excellent. The class focused more on strategy than marketing.

This class has been such a disaster. So disorganized, so much random work. The speakers have been great and the professor is so nice and passionate, but the overall course needs a lot of work before it's worth taking.

This class had a lot of potential I thought but it's awful. there is no structure to it and he doesn't actually teach anything. It's all based on a simulation and he doesn't give any guidance to actually educate you so it becomes just arbitrary decisions. there are readings assigned also and you have to come up with BS questions about them (these are graded) and a group is assigned to present on the reading you just read and no one pays attention. Can't over emphasize what a waste of time this one is. Also he doesn't hold office hours and I've emailed him twice and neither time have I gotten a response in less than 2 weeks. Seriously.

If you're interested in marketing, this class is a must take. Professor Bedame is mediocre, however she brings in a ton of very successful, and engaging speakers. I think we had 9 speakers this semester from companies like EA, Toyota, Yahoo!, etc. This course is what our intro marketing class should have been, case based learnings similar to Corp Strat but with a marketing focus.

A really good marketing strategy class. Marketing strategy is very similar to business development and strategy, so if you liked strategy courses this is a good one. There is a lot of reading to be prepared for and the speakers are all pretty good. The articles in the course reader are also very useful to reference if you are doing consulting or any marketing policy. The professor is enthusiastic about the class.

Badame has amazing guest speakers, and a similar format across her courses.

Once you've taken one of Professor Badame's classes, you've taken them all. That's because she structures every one of her classes the exact same. The only difference is the case studies you are required to read. However, she's still a good professor overall. She really cares about teaching you important marketing concepts and she puts in a lot of effort to prepare for each class session. But above all, her ability to bring in amazing guest speakers is her greatest strength.

Cases are fairly diverse and interesting. As a night class, the last hour can be hard to get through, but it's just once a week.

A lot of great speakers. Learned a few new interesting marketing frameworks. A good choice for marketers.

It's Badame so we all know what that means - a little all over the place but good frameworks and great case studies and speakers. Good class especially if you need marketing connections 2nd semester!
