Very structured and good format for a marketing class where it is sometimes hard to assess student performance
Spring 2022 · Ukanwa, Kalinda · 3 units
This class goes at a nice pace and the professor is very accommodating and inviting. She invites active participation, but also gives students multiple ways to earn participation (for ex. she allows you to participate via Blackboard discussion if you prefer not to contribute to class). Prof. Ukanwa is the most flexible professor I've had at Marshall and she has a lot of real-world experience. My biggest complaint is that the syllabus didn't mention that she would assign impromptu "in-class assignments" that had a short turnaround time. She does cancel class to allow you to complete the assignment, but sometimes the assignment takes longer than class would have.

The class is really hands on and teaches various marketing tools such as Tableau, Excel, Google Analytics. It also consists of projects where students analyze real marketing data. It is an extremely useful course for marketers or data scientists interested in trying their hand at real world Marketing Analytics.

I like the coverage of this course and the in class content. However, the individual assignments need to be trimmed as there is a disconnect b/w what professor thinks is the required time vs how much it takes in reality. Otherwise professor is very cooperative and helps extend assignment deadlines at times too.

Good overview of data analysis as it relates to positioning, segmentation, and other fundamentals of marketing. Don't go super in-depth on any specific topic, so take this class if you want to touch on multiple aspects of marketing. Individual assignments can be somewhat time consuming.

This is the first time Kalinda has taught this course, so I feel like this was a guinea pig semester. The Pros - you get high level exposure of various analytics tools like Google Analytics, R, and SQL. The Cons - the material is not very engaging and some of it is a repeat of what was learned in GSBA 524 Data Analytics.

Would definitely only recommend if you're looking to get a STEM specialization and are interested in an easy enough STEM course. The Professor stretches out 15 minutes worth of topic to a whole hour.

Would recommend taking this class before Market Demand and Sales Forecasting. The professor is nice and goes at a slower pace.

Professor Luo is one of the best professors here. She takes great care in preparing the material to make sure students can follow her slides. She's organized and taught us very useful tools. She's super easy to follow - if you're new to marketing analytics, this is a great step-by-step class. She's also a practioner - not just an academic so it helps to give you useful skills.

This class is kind of redundant if you have also taken Siddarth's Demand and Sales Forecasting although she does teach you tools that automate much of what you learn in Siddarth's class which is nice. Pretty easy workload and the Professor isn't too tough.

This class takes a more practical approach to analytics. Whereas other analytics classes are more heavily focused on statistics and academic approach, this class uses a lot of real-world examples. However, is a bit slower than DSO classes.

Professor Luo wrote this class and utilizes her teachings in her actual work, so she is great to learn from. She goes really fast though and sometimes can be hard to follow. The class overall is fairly positive and the workload is fair. There is a good mix of DSO and MBAs in this class - the goal here was so we could all learn from eachother, but I think it makes it hard to teach the class specific to the degrees.

This class is useful in learning about conjoint surveys and different marketing tools such as Sawtooth. However, the professor is a bit repetitive and she literally walks us through step by step instructions of how to use software when a lot of it is very self explanatory.

if you want to learn more about data analytics implementation for marketing take this class. no exams, just individual assignments and a group project.

The professor can be very slow and tedious sometimes, however she explains the course material very thoroughly. The slides are great and the assignments are very well designed. The best thing is that there is no exam in this class. Just individual and group assignments.

Course could be very interesting for market entry/new product development insights; however, the pace of class was very slow and there was no application of material for the first 1/2 of the semester.
