Great guest speakers, all course work for the most part is completed in class, and sessions are always fun and interesting. I would highly recommend! It is a very functional course and Prof. Kozinets is very driven to provide a positive experience.

Too many guest speakers. Presentations given by students go on every week for around 20-30 mins. Not many things are coming from the professor.

The content is super interesting, great speakers, with exposure to marketing across various entertainment concepts (movies, games, trailers, museums, product placement, etc.). Relatively low-lift class, but the professor is a bit unflexible (making students show up in person with no Zoom). Professor is highly knowledgable, and leads an engaging class session

Professor Nunes a good guy , but I haven't learned anything from his lectures (strategic or tactical) to apply to my marketing career. He most lectures over the history of an item or concept - not very practical. The guest speakers were OK.

Prof. Nunes is a nice guy. The coursework is not at all intense. But I can see how it could be useful for someone who wants to learn about entertainment industries. The knowledge is pretty basic. Bottom line: if you want a chill class, take this course.

Agree with the above. It was a little brutal to sit through class after class. In addition, Professor is totally green, was a harsh grader, and was a terrible facilitator. He brought in three guest speakers over the course of 8 weeks, and 2 of them were interesting. Outside of them, though, you could probably read an article or two on multicultural marketing to capture what we learned in class.

Although I agree with other comments here (the professor is truly inexperienced and it showed, painfully) I do think I was able to capture value from this class. I thought the cases and guest speakers were interesting and I was grateful for the stiumulating conversations (which mostly arose due to an amazing class of people). I do think this is an important aspect of marketing we should all consider and this class provided space to do that, even if it left a lot to be desired.

This class failed to provide any real frameworks or information which helped add to my knowledge of multicultural marketing, often using outdated cases and information in a quickly-changing topic. In addition, the class mostly focused on Hispanic marketing rather than truly encompassing multicultural marketing.

It's a very niche type of market research. Netnography is a field that Professor Kozinets is pioneering (possibly invented) that is getting traction, but the skills learned in this class are not directly applicable to the day-to-day functions of CPG marketing or Tech marketing. This class is all about leveraging online conversations to inform product development. It's cool but niche.

A number of issues with this class, but most of all, professor seriously overestimates the amount of interest and time students have for the semester-long research project; class would function better as an independent research project credit. Do not recommend.

Netnography is like anthropology/ethnography using posts and comments from the Internet. The professor is still figuring out how to organize the class but he is essentially the founder of the subject. There's a surprisingly large amount of work and reading but I think this is something I might actually use when I graduate.

I would look at this class as a research course. The professor helps you refine your techniques on doing online ethnographic research (Netnography). However, I found it difficult to get past the professor's ego in that he would constantly say he invented the term netnography, and overly cite personal projects he was working on as examples.

This was the first time this class was taught at Marshall, which made for a bit of a bumpy ride. That being said, the class is very interesting and taught by the person who essentially invented the subject. Once Kozinets has taught the class a few times, and tweaks the syllabus, it'll be a must take class for anyone interested in going into marketing.

I think this course is a really nice complement to all the "big data" courses we are exposed to at business school
