Yes, alliance is a huge portion of company strategy. Even if I do not directly deal with alliance, I can apply the concepts and examples I learned from this class to serve my clients.

Kyle mayer is one of the best professors at Marshall. It is a discussion based class and you need to do the reading for every class, but the cases are very enjoyable. The workload is very managable and everyone should take this class at some point

Course Content: Do not evaluate based on concepts learned. If that was the only criterion, this would be worth 1.5 units. But there is a lot more that happens in terms of case discussions and a variety of perspectives. That's where the learning is, as it should be for a MBA program. Professor: Very enthusiastic about the subject. Has the confidence and knowledge to back that enthusiasm. Interesting assignments. Really encourages you to think. Warning: This will not be a class for which you think "I can sail through this doing nothing". There are some who do it but very difficult. Expect lots of case readings.

Honestly it's a chill, interesting, class. You get out of it what you put into it. This is never the reason I'm stressed out about school. Great class to balance out a heavy quant schedule

Mayer is good at facilitating case discussions but the same format over and over gets really old really fast. Assignments aren't too tough and cases are interesting for the most part. Good takeaways.

This has been one of my favorite classes at Marshall. Professor Mayer is extremely engaging and does a great job of integrating more current cases into the curriculum. Classes are all discussion driven which I prefer to a traditional lecture format and the final project is the most unique one I've been assigned during my time at Marshall. Highly recommend for all regardless of your target career function.

I found the takeaways from the first month to be useful/interesting but the same structure of the class each week (case discussion) gets mundane/predictable after a while. Part of the class is writing a case and teaching note then leading the class discussion for the case, which is a nice change of pace from typical presentations we're used to and not as much work as it sounds like it might be.

Kyle is a great professor! He always brings alot of enthusiasm to his classes and each of this lectures are structured perfectly. I highly recommend this class to anyone (1st and 2nd years) since the information you are taught is relevant to all areas of business and industries. There are alot of case readings but next to no HW and a group project and a final paper.

Mayer is always great, especially after core. This class is somewhat of a repeat of his core class. Not really the topics necessarily but the way he teaches and the format of the class. Cool thing is you get to write and present a case in this class, so it the most unique project you will get in any MBA class.

The content is very relevant, as companies are forming new partnerships, alliances, or mergers / acquisitions every day. Unlike some of the other courses, this class takes a conceptual point of view to alliances or mergers.

if you like professor Mayer and his teaching style you will enjoy this class.

Professor Mayer provides great cases and examples of very current alliances and corporate partnerships. It gets a little repetitive since it is all case-based, but it is a great opportunity to create and write your own case based on recent partnerships.

Cases can be interesting, but also repetitive. Felt like a core class at time in terms of value of classmate discussion not always resonating.
