The course provides some helpful techniques and a framework for thinking of influence/power but feels very "white male centric" - not sure how much of these techniques are applicable to women. It also feels really redundant. Seems like it should be a 1.5 credit class

Be ready for some introspection! Great mix of cases, covering individuals with different approaches to power.

helpful course but the class spends lots of time discussing people's opinions and experiences. the book is interesting and could be a decent substitute for the course imo

Tools discussed can be applied immediately during your MBA and taken with you once you graduate. I think this course (like others have noted) is a must-take. But only with Professor Fast. If you're on the fence, download the book "Power: Why Some People Have It And Others Don't" This book will give a sense of the topics and lessons discussed.

My favorite class I've taken at Marshall. Fast is clearly one of the best professors we have. His class is exactly the type of class I came to business school for. Interesting cases, assignments, and speakers. He also is personable and has great answers to difficult questions. I also appreciate that he takes being a professor very seriously, and obviously loves what he does.

The content is really interesting, and Professor Fast clearly has a passion and knows how to present in a compelling way. However, I found some of the role play and simulations a little juvenile and just frankly annoying in a 6:30-9:30pm class. However, the guest speakers are great and the readings are really valuable.
