Class wasn't always the most interesting. Some interesting discussion topics.

This class isn't a heavy lift. But, if you take the time to do the readings, the optional assessments, and reflect on your personal and professional development, it is definitely a class to take. Chris is funny, an overall great guy, but extremely gregarious - probably not a professor for everyone, but I adore him.

He is very knowledgeable, passionate, and engaging. You take a lot of "tests" in class to see your personality, level of grit, narcissism, happiness, etc. Get to know yourself a bit better and hear different perspectives of your classmates.

My review for this class is going to be extremely similar to Bresnahan's other class, Leadership and Executive Development, with the exception that Self-management skews somewhat towards being more directly useful and slightly less entertaining overall. This is not the most useful class but the discussion is absolutely top-notch and Bresnahan is an excellent moderator in terms of keeping the discussion on-topic and valuable. Chris is also an amazing person to know and is extremely knowledgeable in his area of focus. That said, I struggle to recollect exactly what I learned in this class. You are not likely to learn 'skills' that you can put into practice as you may with other classes, but hopefully you should get a broader understanding of how to be an effective leader and communicator in the workplace. Overall I highly recommend this class as it's easy to do well if you just do the assignments, class conversation is very entertaining, and you get to know your classmates much better through their contributions to the discussion. However, if you area deadset on getting the most bang for your academic buck, you may want to look elsewhere.

It's a class where you take a personality quiz every day, and then talk about the results. A lot of his content has been debunked as pseudo-science, given concerns with reproducibility of the studies. He doesn't cite his sources very often so hard to taken anything he says seriously. He is on his phone a lot in class. He is generally likable, but class feels like a huge waste of time.

You can make this class work for you if you put in the time on your own. Very little work. Some good discussion with classmates. If you're looking to actually gain something from a class like this (and not just an easy course), I'd recommend Fostering Creativity instead.
