This class is amazing!! Not a ton of work and I've learned so much. Alan Braun is an amazing professor and it's been eye-opening and fun to learn about entertainment from those working in the industry and take a class off-campus at CAA. 10/10 would recommend.

Interesting guest speakers but not a lot of substance to the class

Chose this course for my Business of Entertainment Certificate to learn about the agencies, as the professor is a TV agent at CAA, and it turned out to be a total waste of time and money. No structure at all. He invites famous guests, but they just share their life stories, rarely relevant to the current events in the industry. At one session, the professor invited interns from CAA, who bragged about buying sandwiches for the celebs, at another a 70-years old writer/actor spend 20 min saying hi to students' moms over zoom. Lol, it's funny, but it costs you $8K+ and you learn nothing except anecdotes about celebrities

If you don't like this class, you shouldn't work in entertainment. This is how Hollywood teaches people. It builds relationships, gives incredible exposure to great guest speakers, and candidly, isn't a heavy lift. I understand this class could be more substantive, but you will not find a better or more respected professor at SCA than Alan Berger, who is a legend and still works at CAA.

If you like entertainment, want an easy class, and like to hear stories about celebritites then take this class. If you want to learn something useful that you can apply to your career, then this class has nothing for you. Basically a mixed level class with grads and undergrads about the entertainment industry and how it works from a professional agent viewpoint. It's good for people with zero experience in entertainment (paritcularly film / tv) but if you have any experience this class is really an intro class for undergrads. (What's an agent? What's a manager? How does a film get money?) You do get to listen to a lot of funny stories about famous people, so if you like watching TMZ then this a great class for you. It's also taught in the CAA offices so be prepared to drive over there once a week.
