"The semester schedule cycles through a range of industries. A session is spent learning about the industry, one session is an organized debate, and one session the CFO from the company of a relevant industry comes in to speak. The debates are fun and interesting, and you learn a lot from preparing for the debate. The CFO's that come in are knowledgeable and interesting as well. Workload is minimal and manageable."

This class is a unique opportunity to get exposed to different viewpoints on business. While everybody talks about the CFOs that come in and speak to the class, I feel the real benefit is from the in-class debates and sessions we send on each industry. I've learn much more through those classes than the CFOs that speak. Overall wonderful class that I highly recommend taking in the Fall semester!

Owens is very knowledgeable and has been teaching this class for years, but first time as a full-time professor. Great guest speakers that are/were CFOs for the companies we discussed. The debates are quite entertaining especially if Sam Ascher decides to make a guest appearance. Would 3 to anyone. Do note that this is a MAcc class for the Spring semester and there will be a large portion of MAcc students (take that as you will because of the interactive nature of the debates).

John Owens is an excellent professor with decades of experience in several industries. He brings in CFOs and KPMG partners from various industries to give their perspectives on how business is conducted. Highly 3 this class to everyone..

It's a good class, not a great class. Its really a meet the KPMG crew that are Professor Owen's old buddies and a great CFO listing. The professor doesn't really do any real teaching of his own.

Great class if you want to learn about a lot of different industries. You spend time reading 10-K's and debating positions that a CFO would take in companies from various industries, and then the CFO comes to speak to the class.

Decent class, not as great as I wished (maybe the build-up) was too much. Wished we went into the actual finance of the companies more- very much debate and strategy oriented
