While Patton is definitely Patton, he relaxes some with his students in the elective class. He has many tidbits that will be helpful in our careers -- hearing those and taking them will make a difference in a career. Despite the class being a 3 hour night class, it's substantially more low key than core, and he does a good job keeping it interactive and moving. It's great practice for presentations.

"Easily one of the best MBA courses in the program. Smaller class size than the core communications class, so much more intimate and you get more attention from the professor. If you are trying to be a great business leader, this class will help you. If you're a non-native English speaker that wants to greatly enhance their business level English, this might be the last opportunity to do so within the Marshall program. If you are looking for more opportunities to communicate, present, handle crisis management, along with all kinds of other business simulations, you need to take this class. Workload is practical and easy to manage. "

Patton is Patton. Arrogant. However, he makes you do things that you always postpone. He's a hard grader. He has his favorites, those who can present (bullshit) and others. The experience was good, the workload wasn't too bad.

The class content will depend on the professor. The class felt like a continuation of Patton's core class. It is a busy class for 1.5 units but all the work that we have done was useful in better preparing us for internships and full time jobs.

Irrespective of which field you're going into, this class is absolutely invaluable. Builds on the core class taught by Prof. Patton himself. One of my favorite parts of the class is learning about crisis management and communication. Moderate course load but should be doable.

Think of this class as an extension of your Patton class from Core. This half-semester class is purely focused on making you a more persuasive and effective presenter. Every business leader should sign up for this class.

Class time doesn't provide as much content as it could. The real value comes from practicing presentations and the feedback that is provided.

This guy consistently repeats himself - super annoying! Although his theatrics do provide some entertainment. but you aren't going to gain anything more than what you will find in a "top 5 ways to communicate" blog.

This course pretty much goes over everything we learned in Patton's class. The professor primarily teaches undergrads and it shows. The main redeeming factor is the fact that we are allowed to be on our laptops in class. Mostly I listen with about 10% of my attention while catching up on emails, doing homework for other classes, and stuff like that. There has been a nugget or two, but unless you are looking for a 1.5 credit class that forces you into public speaking, avoid this one

Snyder actually cares and wants to make you a better presenter. He can help you if you utilize him well and you can actually get better if you put any effort in. Think a less intense version of Patton.
