the professor is super nice, easy grading, terrible teacher, 3 cases, 3 HW, and midterm/final on BB. if you are ok not actually learning advanced linear problems and teaching yourself or are great at excel this class will be fine. all assignments are with a group of 2-3 so get a few friends to take it with you

I used to tell people I was good at math. I used to tell people that I was proficient with Excel. Professor Paat proved me wrong. Even though this class can be challenging from a quantitative perspective, the material is super useful and the class is a great way to sharpen your math and Excel skills. Plus, the curve is very generous.

Professor is Solid! Really cares about his students. That said the whole class is around using solver in excel. The scope seems somewhat narrow.

Class can be challenging but is worth it. The professor is great. He responds promptly to emails and makes himself very available to help students. He also brings prizes for in-class activities.

If you enjoyed the linear programming in Operations Managment then this is a great class that will let you go wayyyy deeper. He moves fast but the homework is interesting and uses real world examples that are stimulating.

Professor is great. He's really energetic and interested in the concepts he's teaching, so makes sure that class is fast-paced and enjoyable. The content can be difficult, but it provides a lot of problems in different contexts.

This class is definitely challenging, but the professor has guaranteed everyone a B+. It's completely worth taking. It's very quantitative though, so if you aren't interested in quant, don't bother.

The things you learn here is useful if you go into some industries, but it's pretty advanced and you may not need to do this. Great for people who want to push their excel skills

Great class! Kinda tough but Hiroshi was a great teacher who guided the students at a great rate. The things you learn here are a bit advanced, but you'll pick up skills that you'll actually be proud to show your employer or put on your resume.

The class is all about optimization. Solver all day

This class is essentially a step up from the core class Operations Management. You do practice optimization problems in small groups during class and learn about various ways to solve complex operations problems. It is a fairly hard course, however, the overall workload is reasonable.

The professor is super ethusaistic about what he's talking about. Fun process during class. It takes a couple of hours to do the homework but they are all great practices related to real world case. I highly recommend it!

The professor is very dedicated to all of his students. That being said, this class requires a lot of time and effort. He will challenge you. If you send him your homework and go to his office hours, he'll help you figure it out.

The professor is super nice, but be aware of the workload of this class as it will be extremely difficult to get a grade beyond B+.

It is a difficult and time consuming class, but students can take this class with the sole purpose of wanting to learn. Homeworks and cases take a few hours per week. The professor essentially guarantees a B+ to everyone as long as you have put effort throughout the semester.

This class is difficult. You need to know that going in, and consider what your workload will be like in the semester you take this class. The professor is fantastic, and the material--while difficult--is quite useful. It's definitely heavy on math in concepts and heavy on Excel in execution. 3 HW assignments (each take several hours to do) and 3 cases, plus a midterm and a final. Paat is a really great professor, he makes the class. Even though its been difficult and a major time suck, I think I will benefit in the long run from having taken this class.

Wow, this is a super tough course to evaluate only halfway through the semester. Some of the coursework seems like it would be useful if I could actually put it into practice, but it's been incredibly tough to follow what's been going on so far. This course seems to be designed to be delivered to math majors, as >50% of the lecture slides are are just full of equations without any guidance on how or when to implement them in a business setting. Some of the data techniques seem like they could conceivably be useful in certain business situations, but I can't really imagine how I would implement them in a real-world setting, nor would I feel comfortable doing so with my limited understanding of the techniques we've covered (my experience in consulting so far is limited to a big 4 summer internship, so take this with a grain of salt). The expectation seems to be that you will need to go to his office hours to actually understand what's going on, which is a teaching practice that I disagree with entirely. Paat is a fun guy but I really feel like >90% of the class has no idea what they're doing right now. He really needs to start with simpler concepts and build upon them progressively rather than diving right into advanced probabilities and modeling. Before the mid-term he told us 'I have to put in questions where you can copy/paste from the spreadsheets I give you, otherwise half the class would get a zero.' I don't think anyone actually finished the mid-term. Unless you are going really data-heavy, most people are probably better off taking the Spreadsheets for Business class instead (just probably not with Rogers).

The professor does a great job keeping the class interactive but there are a lot of difficult concepts.

The class is a lot of work not only in terms of what is taught in the class but also the homework. Take this class only if you want a really in-depth understanding of what happens when you run a regression or such other functions. Wasnt what I was expecting.
