This class feels like rushing through a checklist of legal issues that may arise as you run a business. Prof wrote the textbook and often just reads directly from it for lectures. This is all good stuff to know but it's probably more cost effective to just buy the textbook. Not sure what the class adds on top besides an opportunity to ask questions.

A lot of great content to learn if you dont know anything about law, lots of readings to do. very little control over your grade as only the 1st rank student will get an A

If I was to answer the question: "Which one class do you want to add as a recommended Elective for all MBA?", it will be this one. The class is very practically grounded - employment, liability, contracts, torts, employer relations, etc. Some of this is probably not going to kick in until later in our careers, but this is all insanely practical. Everything else about the professor holds - hard quizzes, great stories, confusing wording. The thing about quizzes: while the wording is hard, once you know how he sets the options, it is hard. There is only one option that is answerable based on his book. Oh, and by the way, the book is kindda $$, but you need it. He is also quite reachable as long as you email him about 10-12 hours prior. Overall, it is one of the classes that gives you an entirely new viewpoint to look at the world, just enough to process legal stuff and be mindful of a need to get counsel. Does not take roll.

Extremely dry but Fields is funny and there is a substantial curve

This class is a good choice for someone looking to learn about the legal environment of business, and in need of one additional full semester class, offered once a week. Fields makes the material very interesting, his electronic book makes studying easy, and exams are open notes. There is one group assignment which is very easy to complete. The class is interesting enough, and Fields' wicked sense of humor and little stories make it engaging given his real world experience.

This class has the potential to be very dry, but because Professor Fields is engaging, the class is good. The Professor brings a lot of real world experience to the class and tells interesting and relevant stories. The course covers mortgage law, labor law, and the incorporation process at a broad, but very useful level. It's just enough information to make you dangerous as a business professional.

Very lecture based, but he's a fair grader, the class is interesting, you'll be surprised what you remember/learn in the class, and the homework/quizzes dovetail nicely with the learning plan

This is exactly what you'd expect - a dry but informative class on business law. If you have no interest in learning about law, absolutely avoid at all costs. But, I've enjoyed the material, think it's a perfect, broad overview of various legal considerations, and Fields is the nicest man who teaches with empathy and wants students to succeed.

Fields is a very nice guy who has a ton of experience as a lawyer. The material can be dry at times, but his stories are fascinating. It's an overeall easy class. The weekly quizzes can be done in groups (do this). Fields is an easy grader, and in his words "Trust in the Fields curve."

This class is useful for anyone in the business world both professionally and personally. This seems particularly useful for entrepreneurs. While lecture can sometimes get dry, the text book that goes with this class is excellent for understanding the different laws.

Good class, but can be dry at times. Exams are very detail oriented and there are frequent assignments (quizzes, presentations, exams).

The subject matter is incredibly important but the professor enjoys tangents and it's a hard subject for a night class.

Kerry Fields is a complete lunatic. Most of the things he says are very radical, and half of the things he says don't make sense. He sent my group the most unprofessional, rude, email I've ever received from a professor. He spends half of his class period going on crazy tangents. I took this course as it falls into the bucket of courses for the Finance Certificate Program, however I don't find this course relevant at all for a career in Finance. It is essentially a law class, so if you are really interested in law, I would recommend this class for you.

Professor Fields is an awesome professor with great stories that takes dense topics and makes them enjoyable. Workload is not bad throughout the semester (quizzes and one team presentation) but the exams are challenging.

Too many ethics discussions and very basic law practices. Was expecting a business focus on law, turned out to be very intro to law type. Tests were too difficult, felt like I was in a law class.

Fields is great. Law is law, but Fields makes it interesting.

A lot of great material, but it can be very DRY. Fields is great and definitely tries to keep it interesting, but he's kind of a cooky guy. His tests follow the book more than they do the lecture, and it can be dense. Personally, his tests and quizzes are very challenging and it really comes down to the curve.

Fields is a great dude; wish he would explain his answers a bit more. Class gives a good overview of business law. Tests and quizzes are harder than expected but the curve helps

Material is dry but professor is entertaining. Attending class is pretty much optional. Open-note/book/friend take home quizzes - no other homework; one presentation; three difficult (but curved) exams.
