Dina is very chill and easy-going. Light workload and grades revolve around 3 test (Not that bad). Good insights that will be helpful for people going into marketing roles

Workload includes studying for quizzes and completing some assignments. The classes have included hands-on work in excel and google colab so far. Dina is very knowledgeable in the field, and has also implemented a mini quiz at the start of most classes as a way of taking attendance, which includes writing your name and answering one question about a case we read or topic we discussed (usually very simple).

Very challenging quizzes that are graded strictly. Also, I submitted an assignment one minute late and was docked for it. Who is this class for? Everyone without previous marketing analytics experience. This class is high level enough that anyone planning to be an executive would benefit. Final Thoughts: The class can be a little dry due to the material, but I think it is a very valuable class and the professor does a great job of tying it to real world examples.

I highly recommend this class for someone who wishes to put in work and gain something out of it. Yes the professor goes fast with Tableau exercises but he is commited to teach you until you get this platform. He stitches tableau exercises regularly in his classes to make you comfortable with the platform. Moreover, his intellectual way of using metrics in order to identify problems gives you a framework which will be useful in your career.

Way too much work. The professor says that each year students tell him that but he never changes. It's a rigorous course and if you're interested in learning about how marketers measure things it's a good course but just so many deliverables for a 3 credit class.

I was hoping to learn Tableau through this class, but the professor is not teaching, he goes super fast and it really hard to catch up, I found more useful to get the course through the internet where you have time to dive in and follow and really leran something. Lectures are interesting, quizzes are very hard, homeworks are not easy too. Be ready to spend a lot of time for self-teaching

I love the course for the professor's superior intellect and clarity of mind. It's been quite enriching in terms of the number of fresh perspectives it offers for looking at marketing data. Assignments are totally worth working on. Gives you some real Tableau skills - actual stuff you may use later and not just the basic drag-and-drop. Solid course, zero fluff.

This class requires quite a bit of work. At some points, the professor may ramble and he goes quite fast, especially at the start. The quizzes and assignments are also fairly difficult, and it really is a "crash-course" to Tableau in the sense that if you don't follow on the first or second try, it's quite hard to catch up. Basically, it's a lot to learn in not so much time.

I agree that the idea of the course is great but the execution is not. I think the professor is trying to cover too much in the semester as it currently is. Some people haven't had previous experience with pivot tables or Tableau so it can be easy to get lost as the professor goes very quickly over technical parts of exercises. Although I did the MDAC training before the class, I wish I had more Tableau experience before taking this class.

The idea of the course is great (lots of Excel and Tableau experience) but the execution is not great. The professor's style is somewhat confusing/disorganized (sylabus has changed several times) and we are often left to figure things out on our own. No exams, just 5 quizzes and a group project, but the quizzes are much more difficult than the examples he teaches in class.

No midterm or final; just a lot of assignments, group work, and open book quizzes so pick your poison. Forces you to learn some excel and definitely tableau. If you are new to both and don't want to put that much time in class to pay attention or spend time outside on the busy-ish work then this isn't the class for you. If you are familiar with both but want to learn about marketing metrics/dashboards this is a great class (fyi I am the latter).

Great topic, but wish the professor would take and implement changes to the class structure and his teaching style. Pro: the professor is really chill and funny. Con: he's a little unstructured (cancels classes, changes deadlines w/o updating the syllabus, posts assignments/quizzes as they come up) and he does NOT go through complex topics in detail. The quizzes are harder than the content he teaches and the time he gives is often not enough. Proceed with caution. Probably a good class for someone who's had previous exposure to marketing/marketing analytics, but not necessarily someone who's new to marketing.

Great for learning tableau. The pace could be slowed down a bit and each of the metrics could be explained better (e.g., CLV, which is major topic right now in marketing received 20 minutes).

A great intro to marketing, much better than the core course for marketing. Highly recommend, workload is manageable and will help you learn, he teaches tableau well which is another useful skill. Recommend this course.

Dinesh is great. He is trying very hard to keep students engaged, despite virtual learning. We are learning a ton of great industry lingo, as well as basic Tableau skills that will be very helpful. The quizzes aren't super representative of how he teaches, but he is a fairly easy grader. There are also elements of Excel that he is teaching, but I wouldn't rely solely on this class for Excel.

I feel like this is an important class to take for anyone going into marketing because it's all about the numbers that back up your decisions and how to evaluate results based on actual measurements. However, the professor moves quickly and I'm not sure that the heavily weighted group project and the annoyingingly difficult online quizzes are the best teaching methods. The class also goes into Excel and Tableau, but you kind of have to teach it to yourself.

This is a great class to learn how to effectively build out a dashboard of relevant marketing metrics and to better learn Tableau and Excel. He moves pretty quickly through some of the Tableau and Excel parts of the class (and could definitely spend more time teaching us Tableau, sometimes we have to figure things out on our own), but he does provide videos you can watch outside of class to learn. There are A LOT of delvierables for this class. So if you really hate homework you may not like this. However, there are no exams, only 6 short quizzes, 6 assignments and a group project.

If you want to learn how you're marketing campaign is performing, this class will teach you absolutely everything you need to know. It's a very dry, very dense excel-based marketing class, but you will learn how to measure marketing effectiveness for sure. Professor Puranam is also polished and organized, but not very dynamic.
