This class is ideal for students interested in fashion, luxury, or lifestyle branding who want to develop strategic marketing skills, analyze real-world industry cases, and strengthen their critical thinking for managerial decision-making in these dynamic sectors. Final Thoughts: It’s also great for those who want to network with like-minded peers or explore careers in fashion marketing, brand management, or luxury retail.

Lots of readings but light work, grades tests harshly and tries to stump you on tests. Luckily, there's only 1 test in the term and then a group project. Who is this class for? Students interested in marketing, CPG, entrepreneurship Final Thoughts: I liked this class! Found it interesting and not quant-heavy.

I wanted to understand a little bit more about the fashion industry which through the course content I was able to. But the only challenge for me was that since I do not already possess any fashion knowledge per say, it became a lot harder to relate to class discussions. The professor too takes it for granted that all students are aware of fashion brands in the US etc. This gets tiring mentally if you are sincerely invested in the class. Also, professor prefers length over quality of content which is not ideal. So a lot of writing is required in assignments and exams. Overall, the course is unique enough and I do not have any regrets per say to pick it up

Great speakers, workload isn't terrible (1 case and 1 article reading per week), 1 case write up, midterm, 1 group project. Badame is super organized and cares about her students

Really interesting speakers. A lot of case readings, but reasonable midterm and deliverables.

A lot of work, but no final and easy prep for midterm. More is more in terms of content and expectations, but pretty interesting content. Great guest speakers. Great info on the industry

I took this class as my "fun" class for the semester to balance out the rest of my workload. As a night class, it can drag on if the guest speakers are not interesting. I find it to be more of a luxury/lifestyle strategy class than a marketing class. Class sessions generally involve 1.5 hour guest speaker + 1.5 hour case/reading discussion. Badame is very passionate about the subject. That being said, she's very meticulous about her grading, often giving out points in fractions (e.g. 9.25/10 or 9.75/10).

This class is case based with a bunch of good speakers from the industry. It is divided into the three parts of Fashion, Luxury, and Lifestyle, so that means that the first few weeks are only fashion, then luxury, and lifestyle close to the end (if you guys are interested in cars and such, be patient) / Personally, I was a bit tired of the commitment to read 2 cases per week (unless there was a speaker that week, then just 1), but for class discussion you have to read the cases. The discussions ideas tend to be a bit repetitive so if you skip a class or two, you'll be fine. / The midterm was on blackboard, open notes, and you could take it from home. It was an analysis of a new case so no need to recall old cases. Not sure yet if the final will be the same. / The group project has no deliverables until the end, there are 3 reflection papers to submit for 3 of the speakers (one page) and one individual case analysis paper on your choice of case.

This is an excellent guilty pleasure class if you love luxury brands. I have no interest in working in marketing or fashion, but I just love learning more about upscale brands and hearing from amazing guest speakers. This is one of the best classes I've taken at Marshall.

This class provides frameworks to understand the fashion, luxury, and lifestyle space as well as the basics of how to analyze and develop a marketing plan. Bedame is very energetic is does tons of research to keep the course relevant. Additionally, she brings in lots of guest speakers to give a variety of perspectives that enrich the course. It is pretty heavy on the reading and the class discussions get repetitive, meaning that as the semester progressed I went to class less and less unless there was a guest speaker. The repetition means that I have a solid grasp on the content, but it also means that there were diminishing returns. 8/10 would recommend

As with all Badame classes, there's a lot of reading for each class but she usually won't cold call. There's industry guest speakers every week which are usually pretty good. It's a bit of an old fashion framework for marketing but it's an interesting class.

I like this class, because it covers a lots interesting topics. We read the case about LV, Vans, Hilton, Tesla, Burberry, Channel, Nike, Vogue... and the speakers the professor invites are really great and always give impressive insight. If you wanna do marketing, you should definitely take this class since the class covers so many industries. Or if you want to improve your fashion taste, yeah, take it.

Everyone should take a course by Badame. She's one of the best professor's I've ever had. Amazing guest speakers. This class is a lot of work, so not an easy A.

This is not a Fashion, Luxury, and Lifestyle marketing class. This is a Fashion and Luxury class that touches on lifestyle in those two industries as well as what their marketing campaigns have been. The speakers are usually great speakers, but the class itself only provides anecdotes and cases to read. There is an exceptional amount of writing that is critiqued very closely and often results in re-writes being requested by the professor. While the professor is enthusiastic, this class should only be taken if you wish to study specific fashion companies or meet the speakers (networking).

Badame is an incredible instructor. The class really takes you through Fashion, Luxury, and Lifestyle and teaches you the fundamentals of marketing while doing so. The outside speakers that Badame brings in are very impressive and really provide an incredible learning opportunity.
