Easy class, fun with Professor Bresnahan. Good way to think about power and influence. More of a self help class than a business class, but useful both in the skills it provides in my opinion, as well as easing your workload for the semester.

Who is this class for? This class is a fun and easy elective to take and looking at psychology perspective in business world of topics about power.

Chris is a great teacher. Not a heavy workload, and he keeps you engaged for the whole 3-hour class. Definitely alot of participation needed but its broken into smaller groups and class discussion which is nice.

This course is not very challenging at all. Chris is probably the chillest professor on campus. Because the class is very discussion heavy, we do hear a lot of different perspectives that encourage us to approach situations differently. If you want a chill class, absolutely take this with Chris.

Great professor who teaches great life skills. Yes this is an easier "senioritis" class, but the professor is really cool and tries really hard to teach relevant concepts. I really enjoyed this class and learned a lot. Favorite class this semester.

It depends on what you want to get out of the class. If you want a chill class where half the people go to and minimal work then it is for you. I wished I would get more lecture and actual useful information and strategies but I find in class that we are just chatting with our peers more than learning from the lecutre.

Professor Bresnehan is fantastic, but this class is fairly relaxed. There are a few tips and tricks that are helpful to keep in mind from this class, but overall it is a long form discussion about how people develop and exercise power

You do learn a couple interesting things but to be honest the professor is a bit dull and does a lot to portray this image of being a family man to us. I've heard this class is incredible with Nate Fast but I unfortunately didn't have the opportunity to take it with him

Openly expresses his political views in class.

Chris is exceptional - super knowledgeable with incredible anecdotes from his career.

A lot of assigned readings, most of which we don't ever discuss during class. Workload is manageable once you realize you don't need to complete 90% of the assigned readings. Some interesting takeaways but I wouldn't classify this class as a "must take".

It's a fluffy class. Useful general concepts but everything seems pretty intuitive and the assignments don't advance my learning. Interesting topics but more of a basic conversation than a grad-level learnign environment. Also Becky is rad.

Professor Heino also offer this class in Fall - great class with a lot of discussion and interation. Reading can be a bit long.

Chris is a really nice guy, but the substance in this class is seriously lacking. I was hoping it would be similarly good to Wiltermuth's Negotiations class, and it's worse on every level. The book for this class is a joke, lecture has little content or clear application, and practicing "using power" is mostly contained to an ill-defined project. Class is easy though.

Easy course just like other courses of Chris. There is not whole lot of learning in this course. Most of the content overlaps with his other courses. Take it if you want to offset your heavy assignment courses.

I disagreed with the book on a few occasions and the topics attempt to paint with broad strokes about very intricate situations that deal with power. I don't believe this class gets things wrong, but it is a little tough to get exposure to unique situations (like political situations that will be common in corporate life) when considering this class. Maybe a bit less helpful than originally thought, but these are good topics to consider

I think most people take Chris's classes as a fluff class to offset other classes' workloads. He's really nice, but I agree with the above comment that you're better off choosing another class if you want your true tuition's worth of money.
