Ike is a great professor. Connects real life examples to class concepts that show how useful the material is. The marketstrat sim is also a great application of what we learn in class

Ike is a very engaging professor, he LOVES what he teaches and he is very current in research. I enjoy every class as we learn so much about human perceptions shaping purchasing decisions. It is super interesting for those into human psychology!

Professor Silver is a great professor and I would take any class he teaches. He is easily one of the most engaging professors at Marshall. He is young and a well respected researcher in his field of study.

Fantastic professor with great energy. The content itself always runs risk of being dry, but Ike finds ways to make marketing strategy both engaging and intuitive. A fun course to get you to think about things from consumer perspectives. NOTE: you do have to purchase a license to run a simulation as part of the class.

Workload consists of reading cases prior to discussion, submitting decisions for the marketing simulation, which is completed as part of a group, and studying for exam. Ike Silver makes the class very engaging and memorable.

Easily the best elective I've taken so far. Silver keeps lectures interesting and applicable to almost all fields marketing or not. Midterm, final, and a semester long group simulation activity make up majority of the grade.

This is hands down the best course I've taken at Marshall and Ike Silver is arguably the best professor I've had. It is not a difficult course at all but you will get a lot out of it. If you are interested in working in marketing, this course should be 100% mandatory in my opinion, but even if you're going into another field, you will definitely find value in this course. Ike is a very smart and articulate young professor and has a great sense of humor (the course is very entertaining). Part of the class in an on-going computer simulation that is pretty fun, and the rest is just a handful of cases and a bunch of very engaging lectures.

One of the best classes I have ever taken in my academic career. Professor Silver does an excellent job of equipping you with a toolkit that you can apply to any Marketing Strategy situation you may find yourself in. The class has a $75 license and a course reader you must purchase. The license is for a simulation (StratX MarkStrat), which I think is one of the best simulations I have used. It will give you the opportunity to cut your teeth into data interpretation, and give you a nice risk free way to practice the things you learn in class.

Who is this class for? This class is ideal for students who want to move beyond basic marketing principles and develop a strategic, analytical mindset—especially those interested in tackling real-world business challenges, making data-driven decisions, and understanding how marketing fuels long-term growth in competitive markets. Final Thoughts: I wish all Marshall professors could learn from Professor Silver’s approach to fostering a safe, inclusive participation environment. In many Marshall courses, class discussion is a significant part of the grade—but it can often feel intimidating to contribute. Professor Silver creates a space where students feel comfortable sharing ideas, whether ‘right’ or ‘wrong,’ which ultimately enhances learning for the entire class. More instructors should adopt this mindset!

Who is this class for? Good class to take if you're interested in marketing. It's like too high-level/easy if you already have a background in marketing. Final Thoughts: Prof Silver is GREAT. Such an engaging teacher. However, the course content might be too high-level/easy if you already have a background in marketing.

The professor asked you to purchase the Markstrat simulation and work with your team on the simulation for the whole course. Who is this class for? Final Thoughts: I didn't like this course by this professor at all because it was a waste of time and money. The course workload was light, and the professor was easy too, but you won't learn so much because he only taught for a few sessions and dedicated the rest of the class for teamwork on the simulation.
