Lectures and course materials are useless, you can just read the slides after the fact. Prof is super nice but her energy is a lot to take sometimes. Negotiation simulations are kind of useful but so specific they're not must haves to be a better negotiator.

Professor is passionate and extremely organized, but the majority of the concepts are not really revolutionary. Negotiation simulations are fun. Workload is pretty light, although the final project paper seems to be a bit lengthy.

I really like Christine. She is organized, friendly, and really cares about her students. She teaches mostly from the assigned books, but why reinvent the wheel if the method works. The structured negotations drive home the key points and have helped me become more assertive, even if I rarerly do a traditional negiation.

The structured negotiations drive home the key points and have helped me become more assertive, even if I anticipate rarely engaging in traditional negotiations.

She has so much detail in her slides you don't need to buy the books (she even said don't worry about it because her slides cover everything) but because she is so detailed in slides there isn't time to ask questions during the lecture otherwise you won't get a break in the class. The practice negotiations are good but it isn't a must take class in my opinion.

This is a course you can learn from an afternoon of reading the course book, after that it should be self explanatory. The good part of this class is that there are structured negotations that you do with a partner, so it provides negotiation practice. The teach is super nice, but there is a lot of course work with this professor. The nice thing is all of the content is in her slides (so you don't really need to buy or read the book), so all the assignments and tests should be a breeze

Class is pretty chill but seriousness of the negotiations depend on who you're partnered with.

The Prof is excellent. She actually cares and is always open to feedback. This class is pretty much a core class - as almost everyone ends up taking it sooner or later. It teach important skills that are helpful in a lot of different situations. 3 different class sessions focus on Job Negotiations, Car Prchases and Home Buying - 3 very important negotiations in everyone's life.

Super great class. In terms of effort to put in for lessons learned, this is the best class I have taken at Marshall. Obviously it is more of a soft-skills based class, but still great. Would definitely recommend.

One of the best classes I've taken, period. Even online, Professor Tost is super energic and engaging. She uses class time well, rarely using the full 3-hour sessions, and the in-class exercises reinforce key concepts. Very high reward/effort ratio.

This is one of the best classes I've taken at Marshall! Professor Tost is super engaging. Workload is light and class is almost always shorter than 3 hours (usually around 2 hours). I was extremely uncomfortable with the idea of negotiating before this class, but every week has been fun and low stress.

A perfect way to practice and get out of your comfort zone in a completely safe enviornment. Not too much work and just about the value you gain. Also a great way to interact with classmates.

I love this class! As someone who gets pretty uncomfortable in negotiations or confrontational situations, this class really shifted my mindset. You get to practice in a stress-free enviornment and learn from your classmates during the debrief on creative ways to bridge differences between you and the party you are negotiating with. Prof. Tost is also very understanding and tries her best to provide resources for us to succeed.

This is a fantastic class! Professor Tost is so engaging and incredibly knowledgeable. There is a negotiation with varying partners every week, some reading (fairly light though), and sometimes there are short videos to watch. The negotiations during class are definitely where you learn a huge amount because you're truly getting hands-on practice. After the negotiation, there is a debrief with the class and time for one-on-one feedback with your negotiating counterpart. You also get to see the results of the entire class and how you and your counterpart did compared to the class. Overall, would highly recommend this class, especially with Professor Tost!

The semester isn't even over and I've already learned so much from this class! Class is very interactive, with negotiation exercises each week + time for peer feedback. Professor is very engaging and clear about the key takeaways.

This course is fantastic - very interactive and teaches important skills in a way that forces you to really understand how you think and teaches you to adapt your style in a way that will better serve your goals. Professor Tost is amazing and cares a lot about the course and students! She makes the important takeaways very clear and really adapts to feedback. Assignments are pretty simple: a negotiation journal (notes on the negotiations you conduct from the first half of the semester), one prep document for a negotiation, a team negotiation memo, and a final reflection.
