This class is OK. Prof is engaging but we spend too much time taking self-evaluations. Light workload and no final, so it provides good balance if you have an otherwise rigorous load.

The cases and discussions presented are essential to build leadership skills. Some concepts are not common sense, so you'll learn very useful things. Professor Bresnahan is funny, easygoing and bring a lot of real experiences to class.

Interesting class, topics, and readings. We do a lot of self-assessments, which I love! Discussions are aways fun and engaging. Light in terms of assignments as well. If you want to build your soft skills, take it! I also think it's a good combo taking this class and the Power one.

Lots of case and article readings, although they were interesting to read. Course consists of a lot of case discussion and discussion within your peers during class. In class discussion amongst peers make it more interactive, but really depends on your classmates if you want a meaningful discussion about actual course content. Course content is beneficial to learn about in theory - it really takes real life experiences on the job to really execute or realize what is discussed. Regardless it is useful to learn.

This is not the most useful class but the discussion is absolutely top-notch and Bresnahan is an excellent moderator in terms of keeping the discussion on-topic and valuable. Chris is also an amazing person to know and is extremely knowledgeable in his area of focus. That said, I struggle to recollect exactly what I learned in this class. You are not likely to learn 'skills' that you can put into practice as you may with other classes, but hopefully you should get a broader understanding of how to be an effective leader and communicator in the workplace. Another flaw is that the learning tends to be targeted towards upper level leadership roles which most of us won't have access to until a few years out of school at least. Overall I highly recommend this class as it's easy to do well if you just do the assignments, class conversation is very entertaining, and you get to know your classmates much better through their contributions to the discussion.

I really enjoyed learning about the leadership topics in Bresnahan's class. This is definitely a class that you will take out what you put in, as there are not many deliverables, and no exams. You can get by without putting much into it, however there is a lot to get out of it if you do the readings and engage in class.

Professor Bresnahan incorporates exercises and activities to lecture that make the class more interesting. The class is not very structured, so it's best to just go with the flow.

This course is primarily taught looking at leadership development and organizational changes that occur with leadership changes. The course is primarily focused on C-suite changes. 2nd half of the course, the professor brings in guest speakers.

This course was exactly what I wanted: fluff with some slight application to my future.

The cases and projects are extremely useful. I find that the professor talks about concepts that diverge from the class - specifically he talks about the military, VR, and technology.

This class is extremely fluffy. Some good speakers. Do not recommend unless you want to fit it into your schedule, or waste your tuition dollars.

This is a must-take for any MBA. This class completely turned my views around on how relationships (personal and professional) work. There are many preconceptions you probably have not uncovered about workplace dynamics and relationship building, and this class will 'reveal' those to you, through fun role playing games, great readings and discussions, and class-A guest speakers. This class energized me every Wednesday night and gave me a new perspective on life.

Easy class, but you feel that you are not learning.

This class is a lot of student discussion and the teacher talks about a lot of things that don't seem to be related to the course. Not the worst class, but I am confused about what we are supposed to be learning. Decent guest speakers though

"If you like to pay for time to answer emails, check Facebook and finish up work for other class, this is the class for you! In all seriousness, this class is a mess. There is little organization or planning and, therefore, little motivation to take it seriously. The first couple classes were lessons mixed with cases mixed with commentary on disconnected YouTube clips and now it's just cases. I DO feel the professor is improving and this could be a great class going forward. He really is a great guy, it just seems this isn't his top priority. Though it could be strong in the future, as it stands now it is a waste of time and truly the most disappointing class I have taken at Marshall. "

"New professor to this course and has a lot of room for improvement. Do you want to take the time to heavily engage and shape this course to make it worth while? Then go for it but I don't know of many MBAs with time to spare. Do you need something a little softer to balance your otherwise intense schedule? This might be for you, too. BUT do not just sit on your laptop the whole class. That would be a waste of time and tuition."
